Have you ever thought about why saving for their children’s college education is such an important part of every parent’s financial plans? Why do so many of them take heavy loans just to put their kids through college?

It’s understandable that parents do it because they have the best interests of their children at heart. They want to see their children succeed in life, and consider a college education fundamental to that success.

But why does our government give out so much money every year in financial aid for college students? How do they possibly benefit from spending billions of dollars in grants, scholarships, and loans, for something that seems to contribute just to an individual’s personal development?

It’s because the value of higher education goes far beyond personal benefits. In addition to contributing to a person’s individual development, higher education also helps in nation building.

According to a study conducted by College Board in 2004 on trends in higher education, college has both individual and societal benefits. Unfortunately, not enough effort has been made to spread awareness about the value of higher education to the society at large.

Benefits of Higher Education: Individual and Societal

The debate about the value of higher education is probably as old as college itself. We have all had animated living-room and classroom discussions about the benefits of higher education to us as individuals. So, in addition to the personal benefits that college has for individuals, it’s important to also focus on the societal benefits of higher education.

For an individual, college education has the potential to impact her personal, professional, financial, and social well-being. Study after study has been conducted to demonstrate that higher education can lead to higher earnings.

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), in its 2010 survey, established that professionals with some sort of college education have higher weekly earnings as compared to those who have no post-secondary education. In fact, the higher an individuals level of education, the higher his income. Naturally, professional or graduate degree programs have higher earning potential as compared to bachelor’s or associate’s programs.

In terms of employment opportunities, college graduates also generally fare much better than their high school counterparts. The DOL survey showed an inverse relationship between higher education and unemployment rates. The rate of unemployment among high school graduates was 10.3 percent in 2010, as compared to just 5.4 percent among those who held a bachelor’s degree, and 4 percent among those who had completed graduate degree programs.1

Not just the number of employment opportunities, but even the nature of jobs available to individuals improves with college education. A number of white-collar jobs, even entry-level ones, are available to college graduates only. Those with no post-secondary education, on the other hand, may get stuck in an endless cycle of minimum wage and low-skill jobs.

On a personal level, college education can build self-confidence and enhance an individual’s position in her community. Plus, some of the bonds formed in college can last a lifetime and can contribute to a person’s overall happiness quotient.

As for the societal benefits of higher education, some of the facts revealed by the College Board study may actually come as a surprise.

Because college education can lead to lower levels of unemployment and poverty, it can result in higher tax revenues and lower dependence on social benefits.
Those who go to college are believed to be better members of society, which is demonstrated by their contributions to their community through volunteer work, blood donation, voting in elections, etc.
College graduates are also less likely to be perpetrators of crime and have lower incarceration rates as compared to those who have never been to college.
And finally, believe it or not, college education leads to lower smoking rates. That may be because college grads have a higher sense of personal health and well-being.

Sources:
1.bls.gov/emp/ep_chart_001.htm

But real concerns get cluttered with opinions in the 24 X 7 media rigor. Whether it is related to CBSE or any other development related to education including, examination dates, syllabus amends, or non arrival of text book in accordance with new rules, you want to stay updated.

If not every day, you have a major development every week, and not say of every month of the academic session or year. Beginning from schedule of declaration of results of the conducted examinations, to changes in syllabus in new academic session, school schedule for CCE, changes in model of papers and questions and marking, announcement of available of new resources of learning, change in guidelines of teaching or setting of papers. There are scores of announcements and development that can affect the schools and student studying in these schools or for that matter any other state board schools including CBSE.

The latest news of CBSE board exam answer papers to be made available to the public for scrutiny has taken everyone with awe. There is mix reaction to the development. But the beneficiaries at large are the student community which will understand its performance. Availability of NCERT text books year after year has been area of concern for the board with sudden expansion of CBSE affiliated schools. In the last few years thought the text books are available online free, still there is a public preference for bound text books from NCERT. Another big announcement that took everyone unawares is the change in examination going optional. If any one of you visited the CBSE portal there are indications of practical examinations being done away with science subjects (for Class X) and the same marks to be incorporated in the written examination. Interestingly, though the development of examination answer papers being available for public scrutiny declaration is only a judicial announcement, the stand of the board though binding is yet clear. Any one who wants to avail the privilege will have to go through the RTI(Right to Information).

Whether it is updates of educational news, or news for education, edusocial corners or social networking sites combining networking with e learning are the best platforms to be updated. While conducting social networking and providing various e learning tools, the are one of the stakeholders who are also likely to affected along with students and schools. Recently there is a buzz of vocational education subjects made part of mainstream education, there are many schools who have already into the developing vocational competencies in children like cooking, fashion designing, or others like typing to name a few. These sites already provide leisure time classes for hobbies, music, guitar, and cooking.

Education Law takes care of any legal issues around education. There are many areas of education where law dictates how things work. Here we take a brief look at some areas that are covered by education law.

EMPLOYMENT
Just like any other business anyone who works for an educational institution, such as a school, college or university, must act and be treated according to the normal employment laws.

EUROPEAN LAW
There are European laws that dictate certain areas of education law. This is likely to increase in the near future, with the Lisbon Treaty going through. This means that many of the education laws are likely to be uniform across Europe.

INSTITUTION RESPONSIBILITIES
There are certain responsibilities set out by law that educational institutions must abide by. They have a duty to teach certain things (depending on the type of institution) and sometimes they have certain procedures which they must follow. For example secondary schools must teach certain subject, such as English, Maths and Science.

TRAINING
Anyone working in education must be trained sufficiently to fulfil their specific role. School teachers have to have formal training, both to make sure they have the skills to teach children and to make sure they know their subject areas sufficiently.

CHILD CARE
Educational institutions have a duty of care. Those looking after children must be deemed fit to take on such a role. This can include background checks so everything possible is done to make sure children are safe in their care.

SPECIAL NEEDS
Institutions have a legal obligation to meet the needs of those with special needs to make sure that they are given the same opportunities as others.

HEALTH & SAFETY
There are health and safety guidelines that must be followed. Premises must be deemed safe for purpose. Compensation might be payable if an institution is found to be liable for an injury that has occurred while the victim was at the premises.

DISCRIMINATION
Students (and teachers) cannot be discriminated against for any reason. Everyone must be treated equally irrespective of gender, age, race, sexuality or religion.

FINANCE & FUNDING
Certain rules apply as to how different institutions can acquire funding. For example, states schools have to be free for all. Different regulations apply to state and private institutions, as they do depending on what type of institution they are (e.g. schools and universities are treated differently).

STUDENT ADMISSION
This is an area that has been much debated recently. Rules that decide who has the right to attend a specific school are set out by law, something that is based on the geographical areas in which they live. Many parents have been known to dispute these decisions.

STUDENTS TAKING ACTION AGAINST EACH OTHER
Although rare, there are some occasions where students have taken legal action against each other using Education Law Solicitors, with the most common reason being that they have been bullied by the student in question.

DISCIPLINE
There are laws stating forms of discipline that can be carried out. In the past physical punishment was legal but this is no longer the case. There can also be disputes where children have been excluded from school.

POSSESSION OF SUBSTANCES
Certain substances are banned by law from premises. Illegal drugs are obviously not allowed, but cigarettes and alcohol are also not deemed acceptable at certain premises. This mostly applies to schools.

SEARCHING
Students are allowed to be searched on occasions but only when there is sufficient suspicion that they have broken rules. This can include searching pocket, bags and lockers.

Education within the US is still curiously schizoid.
On the 1 give, the recognized industry experts tell us they understand what they do, and open public education is getting better and far better.
With the similar period, almost all studies say to a different story. Almost all the popular practices and techniques seem to work irresistibly to idiotic all the way down the colleges.
1st, THE GOOD NEWS: FIVE Significant Optimistic Makes Inside EDUCATION
A single) Generally there is an excellent open public food cravings intended for much better education, for information and articles, pertaining to outstanding effects. In spite of all the complications and road blocks, many moms and dads plainly need far more with regards to kids educationally. This specific is a massive positive.
Only two) There is great general public stress regarding variety and option, of which is, discount vouchers, constitution universities, individual educational institutions, homeschooling and internet mastering. It’s vital that it tension he kept up. A new charter school, etcetera. is not immediately a fantastic school; but it can be a general public investigation of new methods for doing issue. Persons could see in their own business what will work best.
Several) One more massive in addition is the increase inside completely new electronic prospects — the world wide web, movies, projectors, active whiteboard, social media, television set software programs, movies, a new flooding of books. Generally there is virtually no justification cell phone tedious courses or boring coaching. It is simple to set up the bundle associated with wonderful pics, internet websites and other materials to educate any kind of matter in an unforgettable method.
Several) Nearly all Americans seem keenly conscious of your importance within the world is endangered. Your students usually do not remain competitive properly against dangerous learners. At this time there is a greater signification in the course of the culture. 1 chorus normally heard is: Where by usually are the people? The reason why are not able to we now have grown-ups inside the top placements? The Education Business refuses to take gravitas to education….The open public now has the gravitas, and wants a greater portion of it of their open public officers.
Your five) The lot of greenbacks moves straight into education.
These 5 factors are typically we end up needing for any huge rebirth within education, have been it certainly not regarding the a lot of countervailing forces.
——————–
SIX Key Damaging Allows IN EDUCATION:
Just one) IDEOLOGICALLY RIGID–The Education Business (this specific expression identifies the policy-makers in the top rated) are actually occur their own ways for Seventy five many years. They believe with progressive education and the collectivist as well as equalized college class. Their minds tend to be filled with politically correct ideas, rarely reexamined. Obviously, no person could be promoted on this occupation unless of course they’ve got ordered directly into each one of these unfortunate inclinations. Now you will find there’s self-perpetuating monolith incapable of self-reform.
Two) Lack of control In order to Essential KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS–For one of these, the Sixties observed a dreadful fresh pedagogy called Completely new Mathematics. It bombed although got back with the many curricula called Reform Arithmetic. The authentic goal usually seems to be to generate young children hopeless using numbers and dependent on hand calculators; this negative training is today staying folded ahead in to so-called Main Requirements which the federal authorities is pressuring the declares for you to take hold of. Understand the prose at corestandards.internet and you will end up convinced that most of these self-proclaimed professionals are simply just certainly not considerable about instructing toddlers to accomplish arithmetic. Doing this illustrates a structure: the Education Business by some means discovers a substandard solution to educate every single subject matter. Completely new Numbers was actually the anti-math curriculum. Equally, Full Word, compelled straight into classrooms intended for the past Seventy-five a long time, has caused 50,500,000 functional illiterates. It is a good anti-reading curriculum. Normally, open educational facilities usually are anti-fact, anti-memorization, and anti-precision. The normal term for the wider structure is dumbing-down.
Three) Delicate TESTING–Another advancement is made of legitimate analysis, stock portfolios, shows, projects–a complete juggernaut of what could possibly be termed soft as well as pseudo-testing. In essence, our top school staff do not want to train quite definitely; and they’ll likely want to design assessments that can make the pupil’s restricted expertise appear satisfactory. Not anyone appreciates nothing; all people will get at the least a B. This particular design is proliferating during our educational program.
Several) Open-handed Ideological background Within THE SCHOOLS–Another significant progress is something referred to as cultural the law. Socialist educators having their selves incredibly seriously try to possibly be change brokers. They demand educational facilities to be courses with the higher socialism. A few internet websites reason that little ones needs to be educated the important city legal rights events and breaks, and that’s it. Unless of course a piece of knowledge is portion of a new liberal story, it can be regarded as pointless and unimportant.
Your five) TOO MUCH POWER–These individuals have ever more dollars and bargaining power. The NEA will get billions of dollars inside fees and helps the politics prospects which will support its goal. Section involving Education has gotten billions of dollars through Obama, and these funds had been used to be able to skimp the suggests. Consequently what we have seen occurring generally — concentration of energy in DC–is likewise happening far more and more with education. Bad suggestions is going to be harder than previously to opposite. The federal authorities may write each clunker in to legislation. As opposed to providing the local people, open public schools will probably work as federal outposts.
Some) FINALLY, EDUCATION IS The Dollars MACHINE–Quackery within the Open Schools, printed within l951, pointed out that education is the only discipline in which the enthusiasts need to go back for much more courses, contrary to designers, lawyers, etc. Educators are usually meant to go back: this keeps the professors occupied. On top of that, the Nationwide Education Relationship collects billions of dollars throughout costs and makes use of the funds since known to control the nation’s national politics. Perversely, just about every poor idea implemented simply by the Education Organization generates a lot of kids who need helpful aid, any zillion dollar market on it’s own. Consequently we have a disincentive to complete a more satisfactory job. There is more and far more federal money flowing straight into higher education. Just one point should be assured, a regular flow associated with so-called substantial school graduated pupils. Most of these individuals can get scholarships, scholarships, etcetera. by the government. College instructors will likely be paid to go on their left-wing indoctrination. Right now there is unremitting pressure on high educational institutions to kick children up to college, it doesn’t matter how not aware they can be. Detect all over again the huge inducement To never enhance education.
Summing upwards: Numerous good prospects. Although the reality is kind of unhappy and cheap. It’s just as if were watching a drug addict, appealing constantly to move to your higher levels yet in no way competent to pull it away.
Suggestions: Do not allow the Education Business any further cash; never hand them over much more power. Deny your body food the blob whenever you can. Really don’t assume they’re qualified or perhaps dependable. The historical record indicates none. In truth, any moment the Education Business highly gives an idea, become quite fearful of it. If they regularly agrivate from something, believe it should be the smart option.
The Overall picture: Ruben Dewey and all the different early tutors were being avowed Socialists and these people which is injected any lot regarding far-left political ideological background in to education. They evaluated ideas and techniques in political terms–would his or her ideological background end up being superior? This process frequently resulted in the college students and education themselves were retarded. That is the imbalance that must be repaired.

Those who cannot afford to spare time to take up further education due to their job schedule or family commitments have the option of online higher education. Those who want to pursue higher education but are not in a position to physically attend colleges or universities can resort to online higher education. The major attraction of online higher education, any online course for that matter, is the flexibility in the schedule and is the most ideal way of educating themselves who are otherwise busy with their professional schedules.

But the effort would be worth, only if the online higher education is received from an accredited university or college because there are as many spam colleges as there are genuine ones. Hence, to get their hard earned money’s worth, a significant amount of time has to be spent on finding the genuine university that offers higher education online.

The majority of the people who pursue higher education through online do it for the sake of being recognized and hence if it comes from a fake university, the effort goes in vain.

There is a general opinion that online higher education is cheaper than regular courses, but in reality the actual cost difference between an online degree and a regular degree course is negligible. The actual savings comes from the fact that there is no need to physically attend the College in online education and certain amount of money is saved.

In addition, since the student can continue to stay in the job while taking up online higher education, there is no loss of payment, as against a regular study which is on a full time basis. Another added advantage is that an accredited online school does not require buying books and college supplies. It only needs to install recommended software on the computer.

Also, online higher education is in no way inferior to regular courses and is equally challenging. In fact, it is most suitable for those who have the motivation and perseverance to stay focused and get educated through online, without backing up by the educators as in a traditional higher education course.

In fact, some of the online higher education colleges offer scholarships which can be availed of by the needy students. Online higher education offers a chance for the students to have an access to educators and professors of high cadre all over the world from the convenience of the home since they are not bound by the geographical limitations, which is impossible through regular higher education.

This shows that it is vital to choose online higher education program that offers real time communication with the educators. Hence, the students have an edge over other type of students and acquiring higher education online becomes a true asset.

Airports to aeroplanes, luxury cruise liners to riverboat restaurants, universities to schools, railway stations to express trains, takeaways to top restaurants, city centre hotels to bed and breakfast. Wherever we are, whether in a department store, leisure centre or pub, or simply strolling in the park, there is normally a hospitality enterprise providing for our accommodation and dining needs.

For complete details about study in uk, visit abroad education corner.

Indeed, there are hundreds of thousands of them in the UK alone, with a combined turnover of around 10% of the country’s total consumer expenditure. This is very serious money; over £50 billion pounds!

The hospitality industry (loosely defined as hotels and a myriad of leisure and catering operations of different kinds) accounting for 70% of employment in the wider tourism industry offers unparalleled opportunities for truly international management careers.

These excellent job prospects are reflected in the demand for graduates.

For example, the Colchester Institute, like many of the UK’s other established providers in hospitality management education, consistently achieve one hundred percent graduate employment.

What interests many prospective students is the extraordinary range of management jobs available. For example, in addition to operational management, graduates can pursue careers in such areas as personnel, marketing, sales, finance, training, facilities management, conference management and purchasing. Also, career progression is often rapid, with companies offering very good financial and development packages in recognition that there is a major shortage of well qualified management graduates for what is one of the world’s largest and fastest growing industries.

Clearly, the hospitality industry offers excellent opportunities for ambitious graduates. In addition to management positions, self-employment is also a real possibility for experienced managers.

What has been stated thus far is justifiably upbeat, but it is also necessary to sound a note of caution. In order to succeed in this industry, it is useful to possess good interpersonal skills, and advancement will often fall to those that take on extra responsibility, and work under pressure. Also, in some sectors managers need to cope with working unsocial hours. Therefore, as with any other vocation, it is necessary to consider carefully the pluses and the minuses. Although, the extraordinary variety of opportunity means that most managers find they are in fact rather spoilt for choice.

Tips on Choosing a Course

There are a large number of centres offering Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) and degrees in hospitality management. Prospective students should try to get an idea from the college or university as to the number of years it has been running hospitality higher education programmes. For example, established centres, because of their long experience in the field, offer excellent resources and learning opportunities.

Industrial Placements.

Many employers are attracted to graduates that have gained work experience whilst on their course. Established colleges and universities will normally arrange these placements for the students, but the level of support varies, and it is worth asking some searching questions about this before choosing your place of study. The range of placements is also an important consideration.

For example, some centres, such as the Colchester Institute, provide a complete package where students can choose from a range of establishments throughout the USA, continental Europe and the UK. This particular package includes finding a mutually acceptable placement, arranging accommodation and negotiating the salary. All the students have to do is turn up for work! It is important, therefore, that you establish whether the centre offers such high levels of support, which should also include a visit by a lecturer, or industrial placement tutor. Whether they are in New York State or Scotland, our own students benefit equally from these visits, which, whilst being primarily for educational purposes, also help to reduce the occasional and inevitable problems a student may experience when working away from home for the first time.

Choice of Programme

Those wishing to study full-time choose between an HND or a degree. HND programmes are often two or three years in duration, and an honours degree will take up to four years to complete. The HND will usually have a six month work experience placement, and of the four year degree course, one year will be spent at work.

It is important to establish with the centre that one can progress easily from the HND to the degree. For example, some of our students prefer to do an HND (two years) and then ‘top-up’ to a degree (a further one or two years). Another thing to look into is the range of degree titles on offer.

Programmes are often developed to allow students to choose a particular specialism to study in addition to the hospitality core. Specialism pathways include such areas as: Leisure, Conference Management, Marketing, Facilities Management, Business Studies, Tourism and Human Resource Management. The strength of this system allows graduates not only to gain specialist knowledge of a particular branch of management, but also to be able to convey this expertise clearly to prospective employers.

If deciding on a career in hospitality management, you can be assured of an interesting career with excellent opportunities for advancement, and for those that want it, the ability to have a truly international career. More and more, however, employers are seeking well qualified people to fill their management positions. It is necessary, therefore, to choose a higher education course that, reflects the particular branches of the industry that you wish to follow.

The field of education these days has grown in significant proportions. If we compare the present education scenario, it is very different than 20 years ago. The number of educational institutes and colleges are riding a new wave. With the change in living standards, in this modern scenario the need for an expert teacher is also on increase. Factors like reduced class sizes and an increase in the number of students are also forcing many schools to acquire teachers who have skills to handle every student effectively. The present education environment is looking for teachers who have the ability to motivate, guide and monitor the activities of a child. Ultimately, it requires special skills that have to be nurtured through intensive training. Addressing to meet this demand, secondary education degrees has started gaining its popularity in recent years.

Secondary education degrees prepare tutors to work in high schools and middle schools or junior high schools. Meant for teachers, administrators or other education specialists, this degree helps them getting specialized in one subject area and further educate students more about the subject effectively. Secondary education degrees can be earned at the bachelor’s degree level, although several advanced degrees in the field are also available. Besides this, most secondary education programs facilitate individuals earn a teaching certificate, which many schools ask teachers to hold these days.

The major advantage of attaining a degree in secondary education is it provides the training and the teaching credential that an individual must need to get for his or her first teaching job. In addition, for those who are already in teaching profession, this course provides guidance on how to effectively teach students the intended curriculum in communities of learning. It primarily focuses on the methods of instruction, educational psychology in the field of education, social and cultural issues related to school, etc. This type of training in turn can help teacher in playing their role more efficiently and educating children properly. Apart from all this, it can also help an individual or tutor move into school administration, education policy, or related fields like education consulting. Moreover, in most schools even if an individual working as a teacher continue teaching the same classes, holding a secondary education degree can help him increase his salary.

The basic admission requirements for entering into the degree program in secondary education courses may vary from institution to institution. Some institutions insist on a qualifying written test. However, in most of the institutes, successful completion of a high school diploma or some preliminary courses in education is essential to satisfy the eligibility criteria for admission.

Today there is definitely big requirement for teachers and administrators throughout the secondary education field. Perhaps this is an appropriate time to follow a degree in secondary education, as the education industry is keenly seeking and expected to seek for more qualified professionals in coming years.

Teaching is one of the most challenging, yet most rewarding careers a person can choose. As a teacher, you mold young minds and prepare children for the future. Not only do you instruct students on core subjects, but you are able to share your experiences and serve as a role model.

In Pennsylvania, prospective teachers choose to focus their studies on either primary or secondary education. Teaching at the secondary level gives teachers the opportunity to help students delve more deeply into specific subject areas and can continue to challenge students to think outside of the box and rise to meet high expectations in preparation for life beyond high school.

The coursework and training required to obtain a Secondary Education Degree in Pennsylvania prepares students to meet the diverse needs of today’s ever-changing classrooms at the middle and high school levels.

Secondary Education candidates are required to complete a total of 120 credit hours in liberal studies, professional education, and in a major subject area of their choice. Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded a bachelor’s degree and will be eligible for state certification.

	Master’s Degree Programs

Pennsylvania Universities also offer Master’s Degree programs in Secondary Education. Students can choose to purse a Master of Education Degree in Secondary Education in English, Mathematics and Science, or Social Studies/History. The Master’s Degree programs are offered in two different tracks: The Basic Teaching Track and The Advanced Teaching Track.

The Basic Teaching Track is for students who already hold a bachelor’s degree and relevant, appropriate coursework in their desired concentration. The Basic Teaching Track is a 36-semester hour program, often beginning during summer sessions, though students can choose to begin in the fall or spring semester. Upon successful completion of the program, students will obtain a Master’s Degree and are eligible to apply for state certification.

Students who already hold certification in one of the aforementioned concentrations can complete The Advanced Teaching Track. Through this track, students will complete core requirements and complete 12 semester hours of coursework in history, foundations of education, instructional technology or counseling for the purpose of professional development.

Because the goal of Pennsylvania Universities is to prepare teaching candidates for today’s diverse classrooms, students are expected to complete a professional semester of teaching, and on-campus career planning is available to help students get started on their new career upon graduation.
